Wattled Plover (Vanellus senegallus)
The Wattled Plover has long greenish-yellow
legs and orange-yellow wattles. (See lower picture).
The Wattled Plover is distributed from
south of the Sahara to natal in South Africa. Lives mostly on its
own but sometimes in pairs.
Feeds mainly on insects.
When the Wattled Plover lands it raises its wings vertically for
a short time.
The nest is a small scrape in the ground, usually out in the open.
