
Deciduous tree growing up to 20 metres
tall with a round crown. Flowers from November to Februaurydepending on the
rainfall. Heavily scented yellow flowers in terminal inflorescences. Very
popular with bee farmers as the flowers are agood source of pollen and nectar.
Often found multistemmed and growing in coppices in areas that have been over
grazed. Fire can burn away above ground wood and cause coppicing.
Habitat:
Widely distributed in southern Africa. Grows in open woodland and bushveld,
Uses: Leaves are browsed by Elephant, Kudu
, Impala, and domestic
stock. The wood is used for furniture making.
Medicinal Uses: Sore eyes can be soothed with an infusion made from
the leaves.
