This Rhino is also known as the Square-lipped
Rhinoceros. Much bigger than the black Rhino with a massive hump on the neck
and the middle of the back arched. Horns are generally longer and more pointed
than the black rhino.
Sociable, they are seen in family groups of two to five. Placid and even tempered,
they charge very rarely. During the mating season, however, they fight fiercely
and are very ferocious.
Their sight is poor, but senses of hearing and smell are very good.
Diet is mostly grass.
Hunted by poachers for their horns, Rhino have become endangered. Numbers
have increased through protection of national parks and the private game ranches.
