Coqui Francolin (Francolinus coqui)
The Coqui Francolin is a fairly common,
small Francolin with a yellow-orange head and heavily black and
white barred belly.
Distributed from south of the Sahara
to the northern parts of South Africa.
Found in the bushveld and savanna grasslands. The Coqui Francolin
lives in groups of up to ten birds. It roosts on the ground. The
nest is a hollow in the ground.
Feeds on insects, seeds, ticks from
grass stalks, and invertebrates.
