Arrowmarked Babbler (Turdoides
jardineii)
The Arrowmarked Babbler is a gregarious
bird, moving through the trees and shrubs in flocks of up to 8-10
birds making a babbling sound while it searches for insects and
fruit. The flock of Babblers follow each other from bush to bush
whilst foraging.
The Arrowmarked Babbler is found in
the northern parts of South Africa and as far north as Kenya. This
Babbler likes riverine bush as well as gardens and savanna bushveld.
Feed on insects, fruit, moths, beetles,
ants, seeds, grasshoppers etc.
Arrowmarked Babblers nest in thick
bush or the hollow of a tree. The nest is made of twigs and grass.
The nest is built by the group who also help with the incubation
and rearing of the young. |
